Lions Club President

 

         Lion Cindy

Cindy Smith, the Cindy of Cindy's Flowers & Gifts, became a successful business owner in 1984. She studied agriculture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and founded her business upon returning to Menlo Park, where she's lived since the age of 9. Her business allows her to blend her two great loves: agriculture and medicine.

  

Lion Grant

Grant is married with 3 boys, 15, 10 and 5, and has lived in San Carlos for 12 years.  Grant and his wife Carrie are both Realtors for Caldwell Bankers in San Carlos. Grant joined the San Carlos Lions Club on Nov 2003.  He joined the club to give back to the community and to make new friends. Grant is currently 3rd Vice President of the Club and can’t wait to serve as President in a couple of years!

Lion Tom

Tom has been a member of the San Carlos Lions Club for almost 30 years.  As a club member, he is currently involved as a coordinator of the highway "Keep it Clean" group.  He has participated in many club projects and served as President from 1996-1998.  Tom's work career was with Eureka Federal Saving  and with San Mateo County Transit.  He is currently a Broker Associate with Reign Commercial Real Estate.  He has also served twelve years on the San Carlos City Council including three years as Mayor.  

Lion Frank

Frank joined the San Carlos Lions Club in 1998 and found it a great way to give volunteer time back to the community and also meet new friends.  He is a past president of the club as well as a past zone and region chair for the district.  Frank is married with 2 grown daughters and 2 teenage grandsons.  He and his wife Pat have resided in San Carlos since 1970. 

Lion Sam

Sam is the club Secretary/Treasurer and is a retired banker, resident of San Carlos since 1978, married to Karen, we have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Joined the San Carlos Lions Club in 1999 upon retirement with the intent to become involved in a service club and volunteer in our community. Club Past President    2003-2004,  held Club Secretary &Treasurer positions total of 7 years.

Lion Allison

Lives in San Carlos in the same house she was born in to Opal and Bill (Lion Boom Boom) McDonald.  Went to Central School (personnaly chose the mascot name "Mustangs.")   Was a Brownie, then Girlscout, then Job's Daughter in San Carlos.  As a youngseter, she Performed at the Circle Star and in Kenny Ortega's Redwood City Civic Light Opera.  Graduated San Carlos High School and University of the Pacific, with a Bachelor's in Business and Public Administration and later an MBA.

  

Allison's career started in Marketing and Sales, moved to communications and magazine editor, and has landed in finance.  She now has several clients, filling a role for companies who need top-level finance management, but not full time.  "I joined the Lion's club because it is one of the more affordable clubs and it allows me to volunteer as much or as little of my time as I can give; that freedom is helpful in these busy times. 

Lion Les

Lion Les Gray has been a resident of San Carlos since 1987 and has been a Lion for about two years. He has received an attendance medal for each of the two years.

Before becoming a board member, Lion Les was voted Lion Tamer in which position he served for one year. His wife is fellow Lion Betsy Wooten.

After graduating college, Lion Les served as a navel officer aboard a destroyer escort in the Pacific. After his military duty, he had a long career managing computer related projects which included accounting, transportation, and distribution systems. He also founded a computer services company for which he served as chairman for 16 years. His career included living in Iran for 6 years while working for an oil company.   

Lion Al

Al became a Lions Club member in 1967 with the Burlingame Lions Club - transferred to the San Carlos Lions Club in 1981. Past Club President and Past District Governor (2006-2007). Married with 5 grown Children and 7 Grandchildren. Real Estate Broker with Cashin Company in San Carlos.

Lion Brian

Brian is presently an aide to a member of Congress and has previously worked in several positions in the State Legislature.  He has a wife of 33 years and a son who attends Carlmont.  Brian has a bachelor's from U.C. Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford.  He is a lifelong resident of the San Francisco   

Lion Ginger

Ginger is married to a wonderful man named Frank. Who is now retired, also. Ginger is retired, but keep busy in many volunteer jobs.  She is on the Caring Cupboard Board working with Kiwanis and Rotary to get grocery's to needed Seniors in San Carlos . She fills in for food pick up and food delivery. Lions have so many activities it is great to be involved each time we have one. This year she Co-Chaired a Car Show and in spite of the set backs had a great time. She was President of Belmont Community Players and is active as a dancer/singer with the productions they perform. She also dances and sings in the Chicken Ball and Kiwanis Shows. She also volunteers at Filoli Estate in the cafe and monthly Teas 18 hours a month. She creates stained glass windows and has been enjoying that for about 30 years.

Lakshmi

Lakshmi is the current President of the San Carlos Lions Club and has been serving for almost 10 years. Lakshmi has been in the local community helping people get into homes as well as helping people become healthy through her  Mortgage  and Wellness business endeavors. Lakshmi has one teenage son Nicholas who for several years has participated in various volunteer events within San Carlos Lions Club.
